I was originally a little jealous, wishing I could afford to join them, but after hearing about the long lines, insane crowds in the subway, the inability to get close enough to hear or see anything due to the incredible press... I am kinda happy to just watch it online, in the comfort of my home.

The description reminded me a little of a march my daughter, Erin and I went to in Los Angeles in 2007, in response to the crack-down on immigrants in LA. The press was so ridiculous in the subway system that they shut down the automated pay centers and just shuttled everyone along for free -- which, by the way, is the way it should be done!

I heard that there is currently more activism taking place in the US than there was even during the Vietnam War. I think that's a great thing, even if it does include tea-partiers and the like. It's the only way to restore some of the democratic process to the people, from the big corporations who are happy to run the country for us (and against us).

I remember I had to work while this rally went on. Really wish I had called out sick and gone with you guys! I can't help but be cynical though that all these rallies and all the talk does nothing to actually make a difference, Arizona still enacting horrible racist laws, Republicans still taking over the house, change still being just a promise with no action.

I agree with you in the sense that I believe it'll just keep getting worse... until people are fed up and really take it into their own hands. Scarily, only tea-parties are doing this now, but look what they've accomplished in a couple years? Several of them are elected to office, as freaky as they are. Which is why things will only get worse, until people on the left (versus Obama, who's straight center or to the Right, depending on your viewpoint) get upset enough to make a stink, too.
I think the Dem/Rep bipartisan politics are no choice at all, so we need options. Progressive options. If it takes a tea-party circus to show that it can be done, well... it's temporary. They won't take over.
